Recently, one of our sysadmins had to re-install windows 2000. He backed up
the old winnt directory just in case we needed anything. My questions is,
how do I access the registry settings in the old installation? I think
regini will only access the current installation's registry?

Run regedt32, then from the Local Machine Hive, choose Registry|Load Hive.
Then navigate to the location of the hive you want to edit/read. Give it
some tempname (doesn't matter what). Then when your done, move the cursor
back to tempname, then Registry|Unload Hive, Registry|Exit
