Access Data Corruption

I am looking for any articles which address Access Database corruption
in multi-user, networked environments.

We have a client who uses a database approx 175MB with the largest table
having about 300,000 records running on a Windows 2000 Server in a
multi-user environment of about 6 to 8 simultaneous users. The
application is an MDE with attachments to an MDB where the data
resdides. Only one copy of the MDE and MDB are used and get shared in a
folder on the network.

Recently, after many months of un-interrupted operation they started to
experience data corruption of the MDB file at least twice a day.

All workstations are running Windows 2k, Office/Access 2k.

The data is only accessed across the local LAN at using IP at speeds of
10MB or better.

Any suggestions on how to go about diagnosing this would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott M

Hi Scott,

Check out the following links that deal with corruption:

You may have been lucky in the past, letting all users share the .MDE front-end, but this is
certainly contrary to best practices! I strongly suggest that you place a copy of the .MDE file
on each user's PC.

First thing I'd look at is the OpLocks problem. See the page Tom
mentions. Thanks Tom.

Did they put a new server or SP in about the same time the corruptions
started? Or add a Windows XP workstation with all the workstations
being Windows 98/ME?
