Hello-

Is there any way to have the negative currency show up
with a negative sign rather than with parenthesis instead
of brackets?

Sure. Set the Format property of the field to

#;-#;"0";""

to show positive numbers as the number, negative having a minus, zero
as zero and NULL as blank.
