Hello

We're using MS Access (on Windows XP) to generate reports for users to download, therefore it needs to be up and running 24/7. However, this seems to be a problem when it comes to workstation being locked, i.e. Access automatically closes down. Is there any way to keep Access running when Windows XP is locked

Thank you in advance

Elle

Elle:

Understand that when Access locks down (i.e. your screen saver settings time
out and its set to require a password to log back on, or you manually log
off) what is occuring is that the System takes over the primary session and
the user's session (where the Access instance is running) essentially ends.

The only way to not have that happen is to set your machine to never enter a
screen saver time out, and not to log off.

Thanks Steve, for your quick response. However, my question is ... is there any way to keep MS Access from ending its session when Windows XP is locked? For, we would like to keep the workstation locked, and at the same time, having MS Access running in the background. As of current, when our Windows XP workstation is locked and user attempts to download reports, he/she would receive this error message: "You can't carry out this action at the present time.

Any suggestion or comment is appreciated

Thanks again
