Security is usually placed on a database for a reason. One to disallow
unauthorized users access to a database they do not need to see. Once this
secured workgroup is created and users join this workgroup any database they
open will ask for a username and password. As long as the info is correct,
they can open any other database. Unfortunately, if you join them back to
the standard System.mdw file that comes with Access, they will be able to
open any database that does not have security implemented, but they also
won't be able to open any database that has been secured.
If you logon with a username/password that has admin privileges to the
database in question, you can add this user to the secured workgroup file
with a user name. Once the user has been set with the appropriate
permissions, they can logon with their new username without entering a
password. Once they logon they can set their own password. Or you can assign
them a username. Logon on for them and set a password for them and then give
them this password. Then they can go in and change this at their leisure. Be
sure to tell them not to forget their password if they go back and change
the one you set.
Having said all the above, their is distinct steps you can take to unsecure
a secured database. This can be found on Microsofts Knowledge base,
www.support.microsoft.com (going from memory).

We had an outside consultant set up a database with user codes and
passwords. Now I have a user that can not get into ANY access file. Could
someone please give me step by step instructions on how to completely
eliminate the security on this PC? Thank yo very much!!!
