Access 97 Install problem

I have to support 3 versions of Acess starting with V 1.1

I am attempting to install this version to F:\Access97 on 2003 SBS machine.
I am logged in as the administrator and have all rights.

I am getting a message that the wfwdrv must be upgraded and I have followed
the instructions but still get the error that windows for workgroups must be
updated.

To install the updated Windows for Workgroups Driver:

1 Exit Microsoft Windows or Windows For Workgroups.

This driver cannot be installed while you are running
Microsoft Windows.

2 Insert the ODBC disk in drive A.

3 Type a:

4 Type wfwdrv

* If Windows is installed on your PC, but is not in your
PATH statement in AUTOEXEC.BAT, enter the path where
Windows is installed. For example, type:

wfwdrv c:\windows

* If Windows is installed on the network, specify the system
directory where USER.EXE is found. For example, to install
the driver into the q:\system directory type:

wfwdrv q:\system
(I went into cmd prompt and typed wfwdrv C:\windows\system32) and was told
that the drv had been updated. I still get the same error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Installing three versions of Access on a workstation is one thing, but
installing them on a machine running SBS is insane because if anything
goes wrong with this server the whole network goes down. For the same
reason it's a bad idea IMHO to use the server as a workstation. And
doubly so for running antique 16-bit apps that are looking for Windows
3.x for workgroups.

Use another computer, please!

John thanks for your reply and for being blunt.

The reason I wanted this on the server was becuase I travel. I wrote an app
in A97 that is setting on a NT server in Omaha and another that was written
in A2K that is setting on a Win2K server in Nevada.

The two companies have merged and I need to incorporate some of the
functionality that is in the 97 version and other functionality that is in
the A2K ver into 1 application in Access 2003.

I was told that having 3 versions on 1 machine was not a problem as long as
I started installing with the earliest version 1st. Since I am just builing
this SBS I thought it might be the ideal place to do this since all my other
boxes have access 2 k on them.

I guess I could wait until I'm back in Omaha next month and put the A2K
version on the NT box. That box will be closed down once the applications
are combined and working.

I could probably do this on my notebook (so I would have it at both
locations) but I have Winxp Pro and Office 2003 Pro on that system and worry
about reactivation

Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this with besides uninstalling Win2k
from a workstation, installing Access 97 on that workstation, and then
reinstalling Access 2K?

Again Thanks

The following links may help. But have you thought of setting up another
partition on your laptop and installing Windows 2000 with the older
versions of Access installed, so you can boot into one OS or the other?
Another approach would be to use Virtual PC (now owned by Microsoft).
