Xavier

We installed access 97 and 2007 on the same TS 2008 however everytime I would
work with Access 97, then open 2007 I get a window pop up saying something
along the lines of “Please wait while we install Microsoft Office 2007
componentsâ€, and likewise for Office 97. Then after working with office 2007
and going back to 97, it changes the file associations

Can someone tell me if access/office 2007 and access 97 are not compatible
or how to work around this issues?

What I do is this. I set A 2007 up as the default file association.

I then go to the folder where A 97 and find the file: msaccess.srg

I rename it to msaccess.srg.old, then open notepad and save a blank file as
msaccess.srg.

That will keep the A 97.mdb files from re-registering. You will need to use
shortcut with the full path to the A 97 executable like:

"C:\Program Files\Office97\msaccess.exe" "C:\Database\MyData.mdb"

Thank you, I will give this a try

of course they're not compatible.
why the heck would you still be using Access 97?

Access 2000 introduced the best option for using MS Access, this is
known as 'Access Data Projects (ADP)'.

The customer is migrating this OLD dbs but we were assessing whether having
the 2 versions on the same machine or isolated.

Sorry Xavier,

Aaron has been trolling these newsgroups for some time. As this group is not
monitored by Microsoft, he hasn't been banned. He was arrested and convicted
for threatening someone here and is presently on probation. Practically
nothing he says here has any value. Just ignore him and his remarks.

Arvin,

Is there a list of known problems/issues in using Access 97 with Office 2007?
Is it possible to with Office 2007 merge letters with Access 97 as the data
source?

Thanks,
M Manley
