I have a client who has an Access 97 database sitting on a
shared drive on an NT server. The master plan is to move
this database and everything else to an XP based network.
However, when I tried opening the .mdb file Access moaned
that it couldn't convert due to permissions etc... I later
discovered it was a secured database using a .mdw file.
I joined the workgroup by selecting the .mdw file in
the "join workgroup" bit on the security menu, and now
when I go to open the database it asks for a username and
password. Thing is, the Admin login has no password and
from what I understand from the help files, this should
take me straight in.
I even set a password on the Admin user, and tried to
enter that, but it still wouldn't let me.
Would the shortcut method ( <path to access> <path
to .mdb> /wkgrp <path to .mdw< ) work for me, or is my
client doomed forever to be stuck with Access 97?
Thanks!
