Access 2007 Runtime export to Microsoft Word

I have an Access 2003 application running in 2007 (as 2003), and when I run
reports, the Microsoft Word icon becomes normally active in the ribbon and I
can generate my reports into Word. However, when I package the Application
into Runtime, the Word icon no longer appears in the ribbon.
Please tell me how to get Word available under 2007 runtime.

It has always been true that almost none of the standard menus and toolbars
are available in the runtime. You have to build your own menus and toolbars
and those WILL work in the runtime.
 
Thanks, Rick, but further clarification needed, please.
I have created my toolbar in Access 2003. (Tools, Customize, and selected
Toolbar Utility 1. Categories: Tools, Commands: Office links). Word opens
fine in 2003 when I produce reports and click on this icon on my new toolbar.
However, of course Access 2007 does not have the same menu/toolbar
structure. Even when I run my 2003 application in 2007 as 2003, I do not see
my new customized toolbar, and certainly not when I package and install in
2007 runtime.
Please tell me what I am missing.

Please clarify... Did you build an entirely NEW toolbar or did you modify
an existing one? New toolbars reside inside the MDB file. Modifications
that you make to built in ones are stored in the registry and will not
"follow the file" should you give it to another user nor will those changes
appear if you open the file in a different version.

Access 2007 will (by default) open your custom toolbars in a "add-ins" tab
on the ribbon. If you see that tab then your toolbar should be there
provided it really is a new toolbar that was created from scratch.

You can set the file's startup properties to disable all built-in toolbars
and menus and designate a custom menu as the main menu of the application
and then your 2003 (and older) toolbars and menus will appear in 2007 just
the same as they do in the older versions. There will be no ribbon at all.
If you do this the behavior should be the same in the runtime as in the
fully licensed version.
 
Thanks Rich - Have now built a NEW toolbar and yes it opens in 2007 as
"add-in". Works perfectly. However, when I package it, the tool bars are
different. I built with Commands such as "publish with microsoft word" and
"compact and repaid database". In the package I do get the add-in tab, but
with Categories 'File' and 'Edit' with limited functionality - and File
Export is not available to help me get to Word.
So, my difference is now between 2007 standard and 2007 package.
Any ideas.
(Must I really make a package to use run-time? - won't my native .mdb work?)
(And thanks so much for your help - this forum is invaluable)

The behavior you're describing (if universally true) is not how other
runtimes have behaved and I have seen no one else in these forums make those
claims. It would be yet another failure of the new version if that is
really the case.

I have never tested my apps in the 2007 runtime, but historicially there
have only been a handful of features that the runtime did not support (like
filter by form).

I still suspect the toolbar you created a bit. Even if you have a custom
toolbar with non-supported features on it, I would expect those items to
still be present on the toolbar in the 2007 runtime, they just wouldn't
work. I cannot explain them not appearing at all. Did you try making your
bar a menu bar and designating it as the main menu for the application in
startup?
