M MDI Anne Jul 22, 2009 #1 Is there a way to change the "default" location when I try to get external data? Thanks!
K Klatuu Jul 22, 2009 #2 Yes, but it does have a side effect. In Access Options, you can set the Default Database Folder. It uses that to save a new database if you don't specify another location, but it also uses it to look for external data.

M MDI Anne Jul 23, 2009 #3 I checked mine...and it doesn't use that location to look for external data. I wish it would!, but it doesn't... Unless I've done it wrong...??

K Klatuu Jul 23, 2009 #4 Don't know what to tell you, it works for me. Did you look at what is in the Options? Be aware that if you change a folder for a search, it will default to the new path until you change it again or close Access.
