I am trying to secure a older database that i recently upgraded to 2003. This database secures information that is merged into confidential word documents one at a time. With office 2000 the database was secured with a "database password" now with office 2003, if the "database password" is used, word cannot connect to the database. There are other security options in access 2003 such as "user and group account". When i use this as security, the database is password protected as far as opening, but anyone can create a word document and import any of the data without using the password.

HELP!! any ideas

If an external program can access your data without supplying a valid
username/password, then you haven't secured your database properly. Download
and read-read-read the MS Access Security FAQ (go to
www.thedatabaseplace.net/dataupdates.asp , bottom of the page). Try this on
a COPY of your database. Note also that Access User Level Security can be
broken by employing the services of any of several companies on the internet
who specialize in this ... not to say you shouldn't use ULS, just letting
you know it's not foolproof (as is anything devised by man!!).
