Hi,

After designing a smallAccess db (2003) for a web solution I tried to
experiment with setting up password protection for the Access database.
Having problems connecting to the database with ado I eventually deleted the
userID/pwd.

After that I am no longer able to do anything with Access 2003. I can't read
any database - not even older databasese generated with Access 2000. Even
when I try to create a new database I am prompted for a userID/pwd and any
combination I try fails. I did write down the userID/pwd I used temporarily
but this one doesn't work either.

Any suggestions will be much appriciated.

Thanks in adevance

Bjørn

It depends on how you 'experimented'. Did you use the security wizard, or
just start adding users? I'm guessing the wizard.

It probably has joined you by default to a new workgroup file, rather than
the default system.mdw that ships with Access.

Search your computer for all *.mdw files and note the paths.

Use Tools, Security, Workgroup Administrator to see what workgroup you are
currently joined to by default. Join the standard system.mdw.

If you have only one mdw file, then you have set a password for the Admin
user. You'll need to log in as Admin and change it back to blank.

Hi Bjørn,

AS Joan mentioned, you may need to deal with mdw file, a quick method could
be to find all the mdw files, rename them from filename.mdw to
filename.old; and then try to restart Access.

Please feel free to reply to the threads if you have any questions or
concerns.

Sincerely,
