I am having a problem with my MS Access 2003.

When I try to append a table to another I am not seeing the first table in
the list.

I have tried to force it by editing the sql query but I get an error message
on the insert statement

well, you're not being to clear on what list you're referring to, so i'll
guess you mean the dropdown list in the Append dialog, where you choose the
table to append records *to*. and by "first" table, i can only assume you
mean the table you're appending records *from*. if both the above are
correct assumptions, then i have to ask why you want to see the *from* table
in the *to* list - do you want to append records from a table to itself?

Allen,

Thanks. At least I know that I was not the only one with such a strange
occurrence.

I did try to force it with the sql query but it reported an error in the
insert statement.

What is one to do now?

I applied the hotfix as you recommended. Thanks again.

Sorry if I appeared too vague. But you are partly correct except that it is
the table that I am trying to append to which does not exist in the list if
it is at the top of the list.

Allen narrowed in on the issue in his response; please check if you wish.

But all seems to be lost.

Temporary workaround.

Add another table that sorts to the top of the list of tables.

AAAA (Table Name)
OneField (Field Name)

You never use the table, so you don't need any record in it.
