This is the bug in which users are not able to change the data type or
the field name other than the first field in the import wizard. The
work around is using the advanced tab and manually creating the
columns bases on the number of spaces. However that is only usefully
if you can pull that information. Add a lot of time to the process.
If you can however save the specs so you can use it again if you will
be importing files witht he same format.
Regarding this issue:
I just spoke with microsoft about this, they didn't seem to have much
information on hand other than the June Service pack release date is
no longer valid. It will be a while longer. The rep is researching
and will email me updated information from the person who wrote the KB
article about the SP1 release date or any hotfixes specific to the
text file import bug. I will pass along what ever I get.
