This is the bug in which users are not able to change the data type or
the field name other than the first field in the import wizard. The
work around is using the advanced tab and manually creating the
columns bases on the number of spaces. However that is only usefully
if you can pull that information. Add a lot of time to the process.
If you can however save the specs so you can use it again if you will
be importing files witht he same format.

Regarding this issue:

I just spoke with microsoft about this, they didn't seem to have much
information on hand other than the June Service pack release date is
no longer valid. It will be a while longer. The rep is researching
and will email me updated information from the person who wrote the KB
article about the SP1 release date or any hotfixes specific to the
text file import bug. I will pass along what ever I get.

There is a hotfix for this. You will need to contact Microsoft and
get the hotfix for issue 837003. The documentation that comes with
the hotfix leaves out a pertinent piece of information that is on the
micrsoft web. You will need to reneame three files.

acwztool.mde
acwzlib.mde
acwzmain.mde

Rename them accordingly or the hotfix will not work...it will not
replace these files unless they are not their. I have been told that
the hotfix will correct both the importing of excel spreadsheets as
well as the importing of text file issue.

I'll let you know how it goes after I test it.
