Hi Everyone,

In access 97 I wrote some code that writes a recordest
into excel. However when I converted the access database
to 2002 when it writes the data into excel it writes the
numbers as text fields, so when it does the counts and
analysis in excel it doesn't work because it needs to be
numbers not text. Does anybody know of a way round this?

Also...quick question..can you force access to accept a
number in a number field that has and keeps a leading
zero?

In answer to your second question, there is no such thing as a number that
starts with a leading zero! The positive numbering system starts at 0 and then
proceeds as 1, 2, 3, 4, .... ; no leading zeroes. When you see something like
001234, that is a text value comprised of numeric characters. Although each
character is numeric, 001234 is a string.
