I am teaching an Access 2000 basic class and one of my
students asked me the following question.

If I have my database saved to the C drive and make
changes and want to save changes to another drive but
still keep the original on the C drive how do I do this?

Can anyone offer some assistance?

Diana,
Are you referring simply to the database file (.mdb), or to the data stored
in the database. If it is the latter, then you will need to split the
database. There is a wizard to step you through that process in the Tools
menu.

Simply use Windows Explorer to copy the .mdb file from C: to the other
drive; open either copy in Access and make whatever changes you like.

Or, open Access but NOT the database; use Tools... Utilities...
Compact and Repair. It will prompt you both for the database to
compact and for a new name/folder for the compacted version.
