Hi All:
Here is a strange one: I am running a peer-to-peer network
(7 PCs) and added a machine with WinXP Pro as "server",
where my Access file is located. The .MDB (version 2000)
file is in a shared folder (//Server/Shared/). Everyone
on the LAN is able to use the MDB file w/o any problems.
However, as soon as I use "Compact and Repair", no one on
the LAN accept the one using the host PC is able to access
the file (no pun intended!). "File not found" -even though
you can see the file from all other PCs (via Network
Neighborhood). I have to recreate the "shared" folder and
again share it and then it works just fine. I did not
have this problem when my "server" was a Win98SE or I do
not have problems with any other files in the
same "Shared" folder.
I have come to a conclusion that it has to do with Access
2000 + WinXP Pro. Any solution other than recreating
folder everytime I "Compact and Repair" the database? I
am using the latest Jet versions on all PCs.
Thanks for you help.
