Access 2000 corrupted Excel 2000 writing to linked table - help!

I created an Access DB and created a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet. I think I accidentally typed into one of the cells in Access causing a write to the Excel file. When I later tried to open the Excel file in Excel, Excel crashed

I've lost about a 3 week's updates to our membership database for our small non-profit

Is there any way to uncorrupt the file? It cannot be opened in Excel, nor in Access via the link. The file size seems too big too (gone from about 600K to 1.5M, and I don't think I made any edits that would account for that).

But a hex dump of the file does show that there is still data inside it..

Thanks

Michael

You could try someone with a later version of XL (XP or 2003). They
generally handle these types of situation better.

Have you tried opening it in Word? You will only get data but worth a shot

You may also try some linking formulas to get the data out of the corrupt
workbook into a new one

Nick - thanks for your help. WORD crashed just the same as Excel trying to open the file, but I was able to link cells in another spreadsheet. Unfortunately, the file appears to be rather corrupted, as data is in the wrong cells. (i.e. B7 has the data from C13

Looks like I'm stuck reentering data..

If you're ok with zipping and sending it, I'd be willing
to look it over and see if I can resolve any of it?

Try Excel Viewer. Sometimes, you can copy and paste
values.
