Hi Alison,

Can you open the 'msmsgs.inf' file located at 'c:\windows\inf'. The INF
folder is a hidden folder. If you cannot see the INF folder then click
START > Run and type:

INF

The INF should open now. Can you open 'msmsgs.inf' file.

If you cannot open the file or the file is missing then you may be able
to replace the file by copying the file from:

c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 (if it exists)

or

c:\i386 (of it exists)

or

c:\windows\i386 (if it exists)

If none of the folders exists then you may need to expand the file from
the Windows XP CD.

Start > Run > cmd.exe

Type the following in the Command Window:

expand d:\i386\msmsgs.in_ c:\windows\inf

---------------

Also, if the above does not work then try replacing the 'sysoc.inf"
file located in "c:\windows\inf" folder.

Replace the file from these locations:

c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 (if it exists)

or

c:\i386 (of it exists)

or

c:\windows\i386 (if it exists)

If none of the folders exists then you may need to expand the file from
the Windows XP CD.

Start > Run > cmd.exe

Type the following in the Command Window:

expand d:\i386\sysoc.in_ c:\windows\inf
