accepting digital faxes

I should have clarified: what I mean is, is it possible to accept faxes
digitally other than online (with my fax)? I can SEND them from my computer
through my fax, so wondered if I could RECEIVE them from my fax to my
computer. I've tried an online service and really like it but didn't like
having to scan things that weren't digitized. I have a feeling that it can't
be that simple, right?

It depends on exactly what you mean by "I can SEND them from my computer
through my fax."

If you have a fax modem connected to an ordinary telephone line and are
using this to send a fax from your computer, then it is likely that you
can also receive faxes. If this is what you are doing, are you using XP
Fax Services or some other software to control the fax modem?

If you mean that you have a stand-alone fax machine that is connected to
your computer that also permits you to send faxes from your computer,
then probably not, but it will depend on the particular fax machine and
the software you are using.
