[Acc97] Problems with Stephen Lebans' reporttopdf utility (missing controls)

Hi.

I'm using Stephen's utility for creating pdfs. It's working nicely but
i'am facing problems with one specific report. While the snapshot file
contains all the controls, a label is missing in the pdf file. If i
remove this specific label, another label is missing in the pdf (but is
still printed in the snapshot file). If i choose specialeffects for the
label control only the text is missing (the border is still visible).
The text box to which the label is attached is always displayed.

The affected controls are all placed within the page header. There are
no problems with controls in other sections. Since I've no problems
with my other reports, i'v no idea what's wrong. Furthermore, the
snapshot files are fine, the pdfs aren't though.

Has anybody faced a similar problem? Is this a bug? Or is there any
workarround?

I have not heard of an error of this type before so I hope it is something
specific with your report. Since the Snapshot file is fine the error would
lie within the DynaPDF library that performs the conversion of Metafile
records to their PDF counterparts.
In order for me to take the resolution process any further(if possible), I
would need a copy of the report. Can you Email your MDB at:
(e-mail address removed)

If your MDB contains sensitive data just remove it and a couple of fake
reocrds.

Thorn give this new version a try. Please remember to delete any old
versions of the DynaPDF.DLL and the StrStorage.DLL files, especially if you
had previously copied them into your Windows\System folder!

You can use the A2Kversion with A2000, A2002 and A2003. It can also be
converted to A97. Please view the form named README before launching the
converter.

A2000ReportToPDF is an Access 2000 database containing a function to convert
Reports and Snapshot files to PDF documents. No PDF Printer driver is
required. This archive contains a new version of the DynaPDF library and the
StrStorage library. Please make sure you delete your old version, especially
if you copied them into your Windows\System folder.

As soon as i'll get the possibility i'll try this version. Thanka again

Ok, i tested this new version with my report, but unfortunenatly the
control is still missing. Did you get the same result while testing the
mdb i sent to you?
 
Thorn I tested it with your 2 sample Reports and the new version worked
fine. Did you remember to replace the modReportToPDF module with the new
updated one? Are you sure you removed all instances of the DynaPDF.DLL and
the StrStorage.DLL and replaced them with the new versions?

Stephen. I replaced the dlls, i replaced the module (since you changed
the calling convention it would not have worked otherwise), i rebooted
my computer, i tested it on another computer but it doesn't work
properly. Could you reconstruct my problems with the old version of the
dlls? I don't think that the version of access matters, because
outputting to snapshot works fine in both versions.

I think my report ist the root of all evil. The first version of it's
pdf had some more errors. The controls in the page footer were widened,
i.e. the character spacing was too big. I slightly reduced the size of
the main section and everything in the footer had normal size again. I
tried the same trick with the header but it didn't work here. Finally i
found a workarround that works quiet well. I replaced the label with a
textbox and everything seems alright. Sometimes one doesn't see the
wood for trees.
