Academic version of Outlook 2007 won't allow me to create a BCM Da

Hi All,

Thanks heaps for reading my post and any help that is offered.
I am running Office Pro 2003 on XP Pro, everything is running sweet.

I have upgraded Outlook to 2007 Ver (Academic) and have installed BCM, it
installed perfectly however when I rebooted and the database wizard starts I
select Express and try to create a database and an error message comes up and
says:

"Database creation was uncessful because you do not have a valid Microsoft
Office 2007 Licence to use Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007"

Is the Office 2007 academic version a Standard suite if so you will not be
able to use BCM.

BCM works only with a Pro or a SBE (Small Business Edition)
 
Hi Raul,

It is a standalone product, however it was bought because MS.com states it
will work with Outlook 2007.

From what your saying it will only work with a suite?

The product being installed is a standalone full version (not upgrade)
Outlook 2007 Academic.

download BCM and, as long as Outlook worked, BCM would work too. With
Office 2007, BCM appears to check to see which Office suite Outlook
came with, and will only work with versions of Outlook that shipped
bundled with BCM. It'll be interesting to see if this will increase
the sales of Office suites with BCM or limit the adoption of BCM. I'm
unclear on why an Academic version of Outlook (intended for students
and scholars) would need BCM, which is designed for small businesses.
Perhaps there's a market for an Academic Business Manager? How long
before Office Professional checks that it is running on Vista
Professional, and won't run on home editions? And, the final question,
is there a market for Ultimate Contact Manager?
 
I downloaded MS Office 2007 Trial Version from Microsoft to test before
purchasing.

After testing I felt that I wasn't ready to migrate Word and Excel but you
were ready to Migrate Outlook as the BCM was fantastic and this would allow
my son to study the application as part of his course module.

On the strength of that I purchased the academic version and when I couldn’t
find an easy way to install it off the retail CD I simply installed the one I
download as part of the trial.

Hope this helps to explain what I did, so someone can give me an answer to
assist me.

Sign me up for the "Ultimate Contact Manager" version. I'll take 10 licenses
of that please! Is there a release date within this decade? :)
