Hi. I'm trying to put together a barebones system that must be able
to restart after a power failure. Does anybody know which currently
available Intel based barbones-oriented boards support this feature?

I am amazed at how hard this info has been to track down. No vendors
seem to know and I can't get manufacturers to return my emails.

Thanks,

-jim

It's been years since I've seen a BIOS that *didn't* have a provision for this.

BIOS, perhaps, but there are certainly motherboards currently
available that don't support it. Here's a section from a Shuttle
manual I got off their homepage:

Note : This motherboard can't support AC power resumes from power
failure, you must press power button to power-on.

I'd think you'd need a relay of some sort at the very least and that
without the required electronics on the mobo, your BIOS setting
doesn't do anything. Am I wrong on this?

Just about all current motherboards should support this feature.

Determine which motherboard you want, then go to the manufacturer's web
site and download the manual. Read the section on the BIOS--if the
motherboard supports PLR, it should be mentioned there.
