Does anybody now if you leave your ac adapter plugged in to the laptop
computer permanently, will it in any way damage the battery or charging
cells. Should you charge it, then unplug and use most of the battery up and
then charge it agian?

Mine stays hooked up all the time but I run it on battery once a month
and discharge it.

| Depends on the Laptop, maybe model also

With old NiCd batteries, unplugging, discharging, and recharging
occasionally was required to prevent the battery from acquiring a "memory"
that would not allow it to work properly. However, with current Lithium Ion
batteries and their smart charging circuits, that concept no longer applies.

Keep it plugged in as long as you want. Just to make sure, though, you
might want to test the run time of the computer on the battery before you
unplug it the first time and take it on a long trip...

If you want the longest battery life, it's best to keep it fully charged,
periodically fully discharge it and fully recharge it, and disconnected from
A/C once fully charged.

Keeping that in mind, every month or two I'll cycle my battery (fully
discharged and back to fully charged). And I remove the battery whenever
I'm on A/C.
