absolute positioning

I have always used tables because I was told that using absolute position
with images can cause problems. However, I want to teach a class of 10 year
olds how to create web pages using FrontPage 2000. They will be doing fairly
basic stuff and it would be easier if they could just position images, text
boxes etc using absolute positioning. What kinds of problems will this
cause?

The Web pages won't display correctly in all browsers.

Thanks Jim,
I notice that FP2003 uses layers. Does using layers solve this problem?
Jeanette

FrontPage 2003 uses divs and calls them layers, I would assume in order to
be recognizable by Netscrape users or something. Heck, I don't know. They're
just divs. And no, they don't solve the problem. If you use absolute
positioning, not all browsers are going to render your "layers" correctly.

No. Layers don't display correctly in all browsers, either.

I'd probably teach the 10-year olds more about entering text, creating
and adding pictures, formatting paragraphs, and building hyperlinks,
and save page layout for the very end, if at all.
