About Windows Defender in Vista

When I installed Norton Antivirus it offered me to turn Defender off.
Is this wrong request from Symantec? Or that's OK to turn Defender of when
you have NAV?

You can disable the services it uses from the control panel, and
wherever they're hiding the services applet in there these days.
Knowing Microsoft and the way they've messed up Vista, I'd try looking
under printers first, and then possibly sound.
 
To be honest, I do think that is wrong of Norton to do that. If you can,
keep it on.
