I'm brand new to web site creation. We have marketing
materials in Publisher. Publisher can convert that to a
web page. Can I bring that into Frontpage?

Laura,

The web pages that Publisher generates are very poor quality. It's
important to note that the print medium, which Publisher is great at, is
very different from the web medium. If you're really in a bind, it can be a
quick way to get your website up. But usually the result is going to appear
amateurish.

If you want to get quality web pages, your best bet is to start from scratch
in FrontPage.

You can... but don't... absolutely don't go this route. The file sizes will
be far too big as Publisher often changes text into images. You will need to
import various parts of your Pub. files (such as your images, which will
need to be optimized) into the web and then use CSS to tell the text how to
look. Another thought: convert your publisher files to PDF files for you
viewers to see.... but you lose all navigation on those pages.

I would suggest that you not use Publisher for another reason.

From what I have seen of this, which is limited, it produces code that uses
a lot of divs and lots of CSS that, unless you authored it, is difficult to
understand at the code level . Therefore if you ever wish to modify the
page, it will be a tedious, miserable task.

This is not a condemnation of Publisher. I find this true of lots of
software that generate code.

Agree
To get your content from the Publisher pages use File Save as rtf or txt and open them in WordPad or Notepad to paste into FP

I do a newsletter every month that someone does in Publisher. I cut and
paste it into front page. Its a bit cumbersome but it works in most cases.
I have to go through and edit out a lot of line feeds but its much better
then redoing it from scratch.

Laura:
If you have Adobe Acrobat, you can save the Publisher file as a PDF and
bring it into your web site.
