Karen

I used this FREE service yesterday and it worked fine. Today I get this
error:

Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject '[REMOVED FOR
PRIVACY]', Account: 'news.aioe.org', Server: 'news.aioe.org', Protocol:
NNTP, Server Response: '441 Max activity - IP', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9

Anyone know what this means? "Max activity?" I sent about 5 posts
yesterday and the first one I tried to send today I got this!

This is a generic error meaning "I ain't gonna accept your post - tough"
Anyone know what this means? "Max activity?"

Would suggest that the nntp server was rejecting connections as it had
reached or exceeded it's simultaneous connection limits.

Have tried and found it OK since?

Any crossposts with that send?

I've yet to get any errors with posting via aioe.org.

Also. The appropriate place to ask this question is:
<aioe.helpdesk.english>

aioe.org is very helpful/fast with their response time and would
know exactly why you get these errors.

Yes, there were two, but it worked fine a few hours later. I suppose it was
just a glitch. I was afraid it had already gone under.

Thanks Mike, that's where I'll ask if there are any more problems.

It's rejecting the post, not the connection. Rejected connection code
is 400.

I'd think the 'Max Activity - IP' means they are not going to accept
any more posts from Karen's IP for a while. I haven't been following
all the off-topic stuff about the free servers, but ISTR some of them
limit the frequency of posting from an IP to thwart would-be spammers.

Hi Karen, another good place to field news server questions, when not
aioe.org specific, is <alt.free.newsservers> you'll keep in touch with
what's about, working/not working, free, etc in there. You'll find that
Aioe and Dmitry (x-privat.org) are regular contributors.

Some of the problems we're having with Newsservers is we have 1-way
Satellite service. We upload on one and download on another. That means we
have 2 ISPs at all times. When off the satellite we have no problems with
the newsservers. We just changed one of these ISPs so..... there are bugs
to shake out. I sure wish they had the cable out here.

The problem was with the 1-way satellite service, not aioe.org. We got it
working fine now. :-)
