For now my understanding would be that you are trying to do something like : http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/AutoComplete/AutoComplete.aspx or http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/ListSearch/ListSearch.aspx You are talking about a textbox in your title, about a listbox in the message body and knowing what you want to do on this event could also help...
