Hi:

I have a question about the output of ipconfig (on Windows XP):

When running "ipconfig /all", one of the output parameters is called
"Autoconfiguration Enabled". Could you tell me what does this field mean,
and where/how to change it (for example, from "Yes" to "No")?

Thanks in advance!

Autoconfiguration means using DHCP to obtain settings. That can be set in
the properties for the network adapter in question - right click My Network
Places and select Properties, then right-click the network adapter and
select Properties again, finally bring up TCP/IP properties.

Thanks for your replay. But I think what you have described is for the "DHCP
Enabld", not "Autoconfiguration Enabled".

I have an optput of the "ipconfig /all" from my customer which shows:

DHCP Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: No

I'd like to know how to manully get the configuration. I could not find a
way to make it happen on my own machine.

Thanks
Polaris

Take a look at this article:

How to Use Automatic TCP/IP Addressing Without a DHCP Server
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q220874/

About half way through the article you'll see information about
editing the registry to disable APIPA.
