Hi- I am trying to figure out something so as to help me and perhaps others.
I know that when you post a question (as I am doing now) it shows up later.
Then if someone answers it there is a plus 'box'- But, I want to know how
are you able to tell if people keep responding to that same post over & over
so as to keep giving you advice. I tend to just keep checking and if I see
that there is a new response in 'bold', that I have not read it. But is
there something to look for so as to know that (even days later) someone
gave their advice and I am aware of that. thanks

From your header it looks like you are using Outlook Express for
your news reader. In the little boxes directly above the messages
you will see a little pair of glasses. If you click in the column next
to the message you want to watch it will mark it in red and every
time some adds to the thread the news grould title will turn red.

Several ways to keep track of these in OE:

If you use View> Unread Messages, only new messages show. If you hit on one
in a thread that you were following and want to refresh your memory about
what was said, toggle the View to All Messages and that will bring back any
remnants of the thread that you have in your local cache.

Ctrl+H will apply the viewing filter "Show replies to my messages." There
is a small little program called OE Tool
(http://www.oehelp.com/OETool/Default.aspx) that adds some nice toolbar
icons on the toolbar including a toggle button that performs the same
action as Ctrl+H. Clicking it again, deselects that option (for which there
is no keyboard shortcut) and returns you to your normal viewing
preferences.

There is also a Watch function in OE. Threads can be marked with a
spectacles icon. Any new traffic in a watched thread, will not only show in
bold but will pop up that little eyeglass icon to draw your attention to
it.

Assuming you are using Outlook Express,
By the side of the message you want to follow, click the mouse ONCE - this
will insert the pair of specs (indicating "WATCHED")
Plus - there's a neat trick in "Tools\Options\Read tab - Highlight Watched
messages - choose yr colour from the drop-down list. I use BLUE - which, if
there's a new post within, turns to bold blue ...
Hope this helps - longer to type than to apply !
