About connecting to database.

Some of you may have come across a small error where it states that
you need to install MDAC 2.6 or later because MDAC 2.5 was detected.
The problem is, I have the installer for MDaC 2.8 and I start and run
the installer, but when I try to access the system again, it still
shows the same message.

Is there a service I need to stop or something that may not allow the
MDAC setup to properly update (I'm trying to update from 2.5 to
2.8)?

This is an intranet server with an ASP.NET solution, it works without
problems in my developing PC. I'm using an Access database, OLE DB
Driver. This thing was working before, but there was need to
reinstall the server and now I can't get it back on.

I already checked the server with windows update and there are no
further installations available from there. Any other advice??
