Just curious...how does MS come up with build numbers, like 5384, 5456, 5472,
etc.? What is their method of generating these numbers?

Microsoft starts off with a number and then after every build the number
increases by 1. The reason that the build numbers are so spread out is
because MS creates nightly builds and those are on the same tree as the
other builds.
