Hi,
I have Mozilla Firefox installed as default browser in addition of
IE7. When hitting an URL from an email message, Firefox opens the
window but two seconds later, IE7 opens an about:blank window.
This does not happen when I open Firefox directly.
Thank you in advance for any help.

do you have a need for the second browser? if not remove it

obviously I'm not promoting a particular browser. Personally, I use IE
because I am familiar with it. I'm not a technician but can offer
recommendations. If you need IE for something, the MVPs can help you out but
if you don't need it remove it. And I bet your smart enough to already know
if you need help with firefox to find their tech support forum.

Internet Explorer is integrate into XP so a complete removal is not
possible. Windows Update is normally requiring Internet Explorer.

Check for spyware / virus infections.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
I already checked several times with various spyware/viruses removers,
in particular CWShredder which is supposed to track about:blank but
the problem remains. I also removed IE7 leaving the original IE6 which
came with XP SP2, but it's quite the same annoyance. The problem only
occurs while launching a link in Eudora mail. Any other idea ?
Thanks again.
Jack

The exact same thing happens with me - mostly with Eudora, but also with
shortcuts from the desktop. Very annoying but livable with. I suspect this
forum will tend to suggest getting rid of Firefox, but that's absolutely not
an option for me.
