I have the about:blank virus on my computer (setting my
home page to about:blank.

I have run Adaware and SpyKiller... they don't help.
Neither does Norton Antivirus.

One article I saw on here said to run a
program "CWShredder". I did that and it worked...
overnight! When I awoke the next morning, about:blank was
back.

An article I found described the problem as the
following...

"There are two malicious .dll files on you computer. One
is visible and can be easily deleted. The other is
HIDDEN. The hidden .dll regenerates the viewable .dll if
it is deleted or changed. The hidden file is the problem."

Thier solution didn't work for me, because it was written
specifically for W2K. I have Windows XP (pro).

ANY help is appreciated. I am not a pc pro and need
specific instructions...

thanks

Try This: Once you download the program, immediately check for UPDATES
before you scan. Also, Ad-aware just recently added a Plug-In which you can
try. I believe you have to run that separately. The information is right
on the site.

Also, when you ran CWS did you turn OFF System Restore? Turn OFF System
Restore until you are clean, you can then turn it back on. It is also a
good idea to run these programs in Safe Mode.
Right click My Computer > Go to Properties > On the System Restore Tab,
check Turn Off System Restore on all drives > apply > ok. Reboot.

As a percaution, people are recommending you download this program. Some of
the spyware can kill your internet connection, and this programs will help
if that happens:
