HELP, I have a new Dell computer - about 3 months old,
already had to take it in for viruses. they put on AVG 6.0
and Ad-aware 6.0. It started acting very slow, again, I
keep getting the trogan horse virus that cannot be removed
and I quarantined everything in the ad-aware. Now, when I
tell it what web site to open, it over writes it with
about:blank - can anyone help me. I can't get to any of
the web sites, i'm surprised i'm here.

thanks,
Leah

Hi:

An updated Ad-aware6 should detect
the About:Blank trojan and Spybot will certainly
get rid of it.

Delete all cookies and Temporary
Internet Files using Internet Options buttons
and delete them often.

Install the following programs and update them before
the first scan. In Spybot S&D click on Immunize
to block undesired sites and change it to Advanced
Mode, click on Tools, click Resident and check
on SD Helper and Tea Timer to protect you computer
and prevent parasites from installing.
The problem will be when you have to download these
programs... but if there's another computer at your
disposal, burn them to a CD to install them on your computer.

First of all try this: in Internet Options\General\click on Default
button and Apply, and try to go on the Web to the next
links. I hope this helps..

Install Hijack This (Free)

Read the Tutorial pages before deleting what HijackThis
finds on your system to be sure you don't delete normal stuff..
(only if the previous programs don't clean your computer).

In my ie browser, when I click Tools, Internet Options, General, under Home
page there are three options for what you can use as your home page. They
are use Current, use Default, and use Blank. When I select and apply 'use
Blank', and hit the icon for the ie browser -- blank:about -- appears in
the address pane. I was experiencing odd glitches with it so I reverted back
to 'use Default'. I do not know if this pertains to the problem herein, but
wanted to share just in case. I have a Sony VAIO with Windows XP Home
edition.

Thanks all, I'm still working on it. the spybot hasn't
gotten it yet. it's missing gtools.dll, wdengine.dll and
cmeiiapi.dll I've downloaded it twice to try. I need to
get my other computer and burn a cd - will let you know.
Thanks,
Leah
