I to have about blank and have been trying for days to rid my computer of it.
I did as one suggested to go to Mc Afee and scan for W32.backdoor.cfb, for
this person said it solve the problem, It did not for me.. said no virus's I
did as another suggested by un-checking 3rd party proxy in my internet
options/advance. This did help, now when I sign onto the
internet/earthlink.net it says page can not be found. I just click the home
button on my tool bar and it goes right to my home page.Plus my home page
does no longer switch back to about blank. Maybe this will work for you. But
it has not solved my tool bar problem or earthlink settings, I still do not
have my pop up blocker, which about:blank some how deleted and my security
setting. Spoke to earthllink several times to resolve this, could not fix
with any of their help. Ask to speak to a manager said they were looking into
it and are aware of the problem of about blankand what it is doing to the pop
up blocker. Their teck's are trying to fix it and are to call me back.
But...for 3 days I spoke to teck's, chat, and email reply's. each person had
something different to say to do, from re-booting my register to uninstalling
earthlink and re-install. Which I did not want to do neither.Thank goodness I
didn't for neither would of fixed my problem. I figure now the phone teck's
are way off as how to fix. That's why I asked to talk to a teck supervisor
2nd level. When I get a call back from a teck/Supervisor(made phone appt.)
hopefully they will have figured a way to fix this. I will post their
instruction
