Does Microsoft Antispyware do delisting? jus wondering,
because i've read this article: Why Your spyware scanner
may not catch some adware programs.

wow really interesting didn't even know about this. I
wish they don't practice that, I'm tired of running more
than one antispyware to detect spyware/adware.

You will always need 2, 3 or more - even without this practice!

If you knew as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!

Definitely a tough area. One way Microsoft has addressed this is by
intentionally not publishing a set of hard and fast rules to avoid being
listed by the product. I've looked at recent offerings by When-U and
Claria--as bundled with BearShare, I think--and they are trying very hard to
be open and aboveboard--clear eula's, labeled popups so you know the source,
and a clear entry in add or remove programs. OTOH, if you install BearShare
and leave it running for a period of time, and then remove everything via
add or remove programs, you will find a load more of stuff that didn't get
removed--so one or more of the bundled vendors is pulling in more stuff
under the table.

So--yes this will be an issue with Microsoft Antispyware. I believe that
the only such delisting during the course of this beta which I can point to
is Weatherbug--but I don't track this in any systematic way.

In general, the high-profile players are watched pretty closely--so that if
something like this happens, you'll probably hear some noise about it--not
sure exactly where, though.

You are not likely to see a press release from Microsoft stating that
they've delisted Claria, for example.

I can test that--but I'm not sure when I'll get the time, I'm afraid. I'll
try to remember to do it.
