Hope someone can help, cos I am stuck
Have a laptop running XP Home. Went to upgrade to XP Pro but there is a
corrupted file on the disk and setup only went so far (first restart) before
stopping. I am left with2 startup options - 'Windows XP Home' (now set to
default) and 'Windows XP Professional Setup'. There is also a folder -
C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT - with, presumably, the unused setup files for XP Pro. My
real question is - how do return the computer to the state before I started
the interrupted installation of XP Pro ? I know it isn't just as simple as
deleting the above folder and some other files in the root directory, but
what can I safely delete and what other measures do I have to take ? Really
appreciate someone's help
Thanks
