Hi all...

I'm trying to get a Leadtek A6600 GT graphics card work together with a
Abit IC7G motherboard running XP pro. When I install the drivers i just
get BSOD.
I started a thread with the same subject as this one in the beginning of
January, I got a lot of advice, but nothing seems to work...
One advice was to increase power, 300W seemed to low. I tried 500W, same
result. I've done a reinstall of XP.

My question is - is there anyone out there who has actually tried this
combination of card and mobo and managed to get them work together? If
not, I don't think there is reason for me to continue testing...

When, exactly, is this BSOD, and what is the error message
and stop code on screen?

Have you tried different nVidia Detonator drivers? Don't
use whatever came with the card, get the newest from
nVidia.com IF those don't work properly, try an older
generation driver for example something in the 79.xx series.
Http://www.guru3d.com has some older drivers among other
places.

What video card was in the system previously, if any? If
there was one did you uninstall the driver via Add/Remove
programs? Also try a "driver cleaner", Google will find
some.

Did you install DirectX9c first? Do so if not.
Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers already? Do
that too if not. It would help if we had this kind of
information already, even if mentioned previously for the
purposes of keeping useful information with a post it would
be good to know what state the system is in, it's history,
and what you've tried thus far to resolve this.

Was it a major name-brand 500W PSU or a generic?

Check Abit's website for bios notes, consider updating the
bios if you hadn't already. Had the system been working or
is this a new system thus far never working with any card?

Theres a thread here but I dont think its a leadtek but its a 6600GT
with problems on the same board
http://forum.abit-usa.com/archive/index.php/t-70711.html

Yup I see posts about people with that board and a leadtek 6600GT so
it must work.

Check in the Abit sub youll get more specific info there on your MB if
there are any quirks.

Thank you!!! That thread really had the solution! The guy that started
the thread had exactly the same symtoms that I had. His solution was to
lower the AGP aperture in bios to 4 MB, restart and then put it up to 64
MB. Nobody in the thread could understand why that did the trick. Well -
I tried the same thing - and it worked for me too!
Thanks once again for your posting of that thread!

My problems have now been solved, see furhter down this thread! But I
will answer your questions for clarity:
The BSOD occured immediately after the drivers were installed.
Have you tried different nVidia Detonator drivers? Don't
use whatever came with the card, get the newest from
nVidia.com IF those don't work properly, try an older
generation driver for example something in the 79.xx series.

Yes, I have tried several drivers.
What video card was in the system previously, if any? If
there was one did you uninstall the driver via Add/Remove
programs? Also try a "driver cleaner", Google will find
some.

It was a Leadtek Geforce2, and yes, I removed the old driver. I also
tried DriverCleaner.
Did you install DirectX9c first? Do so if not.

It was already installed.
Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers already? Do
that too if not. It would help if we had this kind of
information already, even if mentioned previously for the
purposes of keeping useful information with a post it would
be good to know what state the system is in, it's history,

Yes, I've updated bios and chipset drivers.
Sorry if I left out some information, but this time I was more
interested in finding out if anybody at all had managed to get my
combination och mobo and card work together.
Was it a major name-brand 500W PSU or a generic?

Thanks for your advice!

That is a very odd solution, I would check on bios updates
from Abit in the future to see if they get this fixed. Good
to know you have it working right now.
