Does any one has any experience with AAEON 6892 board? I purchased it
recently but can not get the display. I tried changing the RAM, VGA
connector, Monitor, Power Supply but nothing works. I even changed the
board but still no luck. Here are the specs:

AAEON 6892 Rev A 1.0
256MB SDRAM 133Mhz
ATX Power Supply

The system beeps when I switch it on but thats it. Also, when I remove
the RAM it gives a series of beeps. I think the board is fine. Can
anybody please help me.

emkay,

You forgot to connect something.
You should ask MB manufacturer for help or read about beeps.
Each count of successive beeps mean something. Missing keyboard, processor,
memory problems, etc.... (Try consulting manual for meaning of beeps)

Slobodan,

When I switch on the power after connecting the RAM, VGA connector and
monitor, it just gives one single beep just like every other PC. But
there is no display.

It gives a series of beeps when I remove the RAM.

I bought it from a distributor in India and AAEON's site has no link
for technical support. I have contacted the distributor but still
nothing.

emkay,

If you used some "powerful" computer with new graphic card I would ask you
if you have connected power supply directly to video adapter (some of them
need it), in your case I have no idea what could be a problem.

You could try to connect different monitor type with different video cable,
it is a long shot but it is easy to test so it might be worth of trying.

emkay,

What are you trying to display on LCD or CRT? Have you checked to see if
you can get any display at all....during BIOS....a different OS?
The driver/ component you need for the vga is s3 graohics twister.
Hope this helps you out. I have the componentized driver that works.

I guess the original poster is not yet far enough to even think about drivers.
He is yet fighting with getting display working during BIOS.

Depending on number of beeps it could be a broken video card.
Replacing the one may help.

I'll get into drivers and all once I get the basic BIOS display. I
contacted AAEON and they say one beeps means everything is working
perfectly so it could be the connector cable. I'll have to wait untill
my distributor gets the originial cables from AAEON (could take 20-30
days) :(

I've exactly the same board here with a running XPE :-)
AAEON 6892 Rev A 1.0
256MB SDRAM 133Mhz
ATX Power Supply

Switch back to "AT power supply" in BIOS. Use a "Standard PC" component.
This is working fine for me.

Hi,

I'm not used to AAEON boards but I work for one of its competitors.

This issue can occur if in the BIOS settings, the Video output is
configured to "PCI First" instead of "M/B" or "Internal".

So what I suggest would be to take another PCI VGA board and try to boot
the Motherboard again. You should get a display that would allow you to
enter the BIOS and change the settings.

From detail provided,
the one beep, indicate that the system is ok, and you should see the start
up screen, the problem is the setting in the BIOS, you are probable using LCD
as the display, try to connect a external monitor to the VGA port and than
set the BIOS to used CTR+LCD

Well, the problem was with the VGA connector cable. 6892 uses a
different pinout assignment. Got the proper cables and got it working.
