aaa Question for anyone who uses a Compaq Presario 1725S monitor:

I got a Compaq Presario 1725S from somewhere with no manual. It seems to
have a built-in microphone and speaker.

I don't know how these two built in items work. Do I need special software
that was made for this monitor?

I see a hole on the topside of monitor and a hole on front side of monitor.
So I assume one is a speaker and one is a mic.

Can anyone help me figure out how to use these built-in items?

Look at the monitor cable, doesn't it have two 3.5mm plugs
for audio? Should be a mono (unless they just used stereo
plug because they bought bulk of only stereo plugs) for the
mic and stereo for speakers (assuming two speakers).

If, because of the audio plugs, there is no sofware needed.
They are standard devices just housed in fancy plastic cases
and (IIRC) a unique proprietary way of plugging in the mic
on top of the monitor.

Try plugging in the speakers first, and playing some
music... switching sockets if it's not playing.
Accidentally hooking speakers up to the mic isn't as bad as
hooking a mic up to speaker output, which in the case of an
HP might be amplified already.

The monitor cable is the same as any other monitor. It doesn't have any
extra cords nor are the prongs (or whatever you call them) in the cable any
different than typical cable. 3 rows all in the same order of spacing.

Just to clarify on the speaker part, there are NO speakers on the sides of
the monitor. Is there a way that the monitor knob is controlling the speaker
functions through the monitor cable and using the windows speaker controls
via monitor software that came with this item? Is this typical of some
monitors?

I really need someone who has this type to tell me what's up.....
