O
Old Bugger
After much umming and arring, yesterday I purchased an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard, put an AMD 64 3200+ chip
on it, and replaced my old Asus P4P800 Deluxe/P4 2.8 with it.
All runs well except for the Onboard Promise Controller. In RAID mode it seems to be fine, but in IDE mode
(which sets it up as a 3rd IDE controller), Device Manager reports that the device cannot start. This occurs
both with and without drives attached.
Operating system is Windoze XP, a fresh install. Drivers are the latest ones from Asus, I flashed the
motherboard BIOS to version 1011.007 (the latest one) to see if that would fix it but still no go.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I feel it is a driver issue rather than a hardware fault.
Thanks.
