Hi,
It appears that my motherboard is dead. All seems well, until I plug
in the 12v ATX connector. Then everything dies. The fans move and
then... nothing. The little green light stays on.

I've tried connecting another PSU, but I get the same...

Any ideas?

Tom

Is that a new purchase or has it been working fine for a while?
You should disconnect all cards, keyboard, mice, cables, etc. from the
motherboard and
drives in case one is causing a short, etc.

And if this is a new motherboard, make sure you have the power connector
hooked up to the right pins.
I'd also be tempted to unplug the rest of the front headers (just in case
they are in the wrong spot...A reset switch
plugged in the wrong spot can cause whackyness too)

Thanks,

It was working, then started blue-screening. Now the fscking thing won't
power on at all. I was just hoping for some real low level hard reset. I
've tried doing the CMOS thing, it just seems to be toast. :-(

It could be a bad power supply. What make and model is it?

I checked the PSU already too. The one currently connected up is the
Enermax Noisetake 600W. I tried connecting that to my Linux server, and
the generic cr*p one in the Linux server to my new PC.

The Linux box boots fine with either PSU, and the A8N doesn't boot with
either....

If you disconnect everything attached to the A8N-SLI motherboard
(except the CPU, RAM, video card and the two power connectors)
and it still doesn't work, then it's very likely defective. You can
call or e-mail ASUS to arrange for repair.
