A8N SLI Delux has issues with ATX 4 pin power connection

I have a brand new Antec SmartPower 2.0 450W ATX12V v2.01 for my brand
new A8N SLI Delux.

Initially the first boot was fine, everything was running, then after
about 20 minutes it died.

In trying to troubleshoot this I made only minimal connections to the
MB and found that it would not power up whenever I connected the 4 pin
ATX power connection to the board. Having only the 24 pin cable
connected would result in the fans coming on when the power was turned
on.

I have tried the Antec power supply, which has a 24 pin cable for the
main power, and I have tried 2 other power supplies that have 20 pin
cable for the main. The result is always the same, once the 4 pin ATX
cable is connected the MB will not power up.

Any ideas what else to try? I did reset the CMOS to no avail.

Cheers,

Try a cardboard test. Pull motherboard and PSU from the case abd
try the motherboard while it rests on a piece of cardboard. It
sounds like the +12V (2x2 connector) feeding the motherboard
is being shorted. If it still doesn't work, pull the components
off the board, like the processor, RAM, etc., and try again. The
motherboard should be able to run with just a power switch
connected to the PANEL header.

Just to let you know, my a8n-sli-p with my Antec SP 2.0 450W ATX (From
Sonata II) does not have this problem. I have the 24 pin plugged in,
as well as the 4 pin ATX. I do not have the molex plugged into the
PCIe port, however.
