Just got the A8n-E and I love it. It's a great board and works without a
hitch.
Love the NVidia chipset.
I want to install XP SP2 on the 1st SATA drive. Will XP see the SATA
controller, and,
if not, I'm not running any RAID, how do I make a SATA driver disk for the
XP install.
I know you can boot into the ASUS cd and make a SATA RAID disk, but I don't
want RAID.
I checked the ASUS cd and the only file for the SATA driver is an ".exe"
file.
I need help on this.

TIA,
john

We are a dealer and have found that the recent systems which we have built
with that motherboard and Windows XP SP2 did not require a SATA driver
floppy disk to be made. If yours does, try running the '.exe.' file which
should install the necessary driver onto a floppy disk. You then press the
F6 key immediately during Windows installation and then the 'S' key
to install the driver.

Thanks. I thought XP would see the SATA controller. If not, I'll make the
floppy.

thanks again,
john

No problems here installing XP on the first SATA drive. Did have
problems initially getting a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 drive recognised by
the BIOS, but even that's running fine now.

Was the Maxtor an NCQ? I've heard of problems with that drive. How did you
get the BIOS to recognize the maxtor? I'm deciding between either the
Maxtor NCQ or the WD Raptor.
