I've just bought A7V8X-X. When I been trying to install Windows XP on brand
new Caviar 80 Gb, after few seconds system freez. Other parts are AMD 2500
xp, ATI 9200 Se, DDR 256 Mb (333). Any suggestions?

when does it freeze..before install begins?....if so ..do you have XP non
SP1 disc? If this is the case, on some systems you have to go into the BIOS
and disable APIC. XP (non SP1) does have an issue with some..not all
motherboards and APIC. I just happen to have lucked out and have 2 of them
myself. What this means is all of the IRQ's will be jambed up like
Win98.Hope this helps..

Have you verified the memory on your system ? Try memtest86 from memtest86.com
or memtest86+ from memtest.org. These programs will make a bootable floppy
diskette for you and no other (DOS) files are needed to make it work. Boot
from the resulting floppy disk and make sure the memory and CPU are sound.
You may need to adjust something in the BIOS, if the memory is getting
errors.

The problem could also be with your CD drive.

I lowered the external bus speed down a couple notches. 166/33 down
to 164/33. took care of my problem

Its such a small change, makes me think you should lower it to make sure,
or it might just be a coincidence that the problem[unknown] is fixed for
now.....
