A7V8X-MX bios only gives cpu1250 fsb100

This motherboard won't recognise any locked cpu as other than 1250Mhz, fsb
100Mhz
Even though its POST says memory is DDR266 which it is (SPD).

Tried it with a palomino 2000 and a barton 2800

There are NO variables in the bios I can see.
I've d/l all the bios from asus & tried them same result (even the beta)

Anyone any ideas ??

What about the five position switch next to the floppy connector ?
Check the manual for SW1, item 5 in the motherboard picture.
