Hello everybody,

I have just put together a "new" computer with an old A7V8X Rev 1.02.
This board was pulled from a working system 2 months ago.
When it boots I get the Bios setup screen asking for the the processor
speed, I set this and Save & Exit.
NO BOOT !
I have to remove the battery and do a Bios reset with the jumper to get it
to reboot again.

I have tried a Duron 700 an Athlon 2100 and a Barton 2600+, all with no
success and exactly the same symptoms.
I have tried another stick of RAM, no improvement.
I have tried another graphics card, no improvement.

I cannot re-flash the Bios since I can never get that far.

Any ideas please ? Or is it dead ?

TIA
Clive

You neednt do the old 'remov ethe battery reset cmos' thing with the a7n8x.
You can just hold down, I think, insert when you turn power on - it should
go into safe defaults mode or such. I do this quite often as I mess with my
memory timings a fair bit.
The a7n8x does have a some wierd and quirky cpu settings behaviour.
Throttling down cpu's shouldnt be a problem - but it appears to be. Is there
any beep error code going on at prepost?

Thanks for the reply - but it's a "V" not an "N" - so I don't think the
Insert key works.
I get the "System failed CPU test" repeating ad infinitum.

Fixed it !
Took everything out of the case and started "barebones".
It all worked fine, started reconnecting things until I found that the Reset
switch was permanently closed.

Thanks anyway
