Been thru 2 idential SATA Raptor HDs and 2 brand new A7V600 MBs with this
one. Various high speed memories tried. Fresh install on 2nd HD did the
same thing. Processor is an Athalon 2800+ (Barton). P/S is Antec 350w
true-power. No other components installed exc IDE DVD drive and floppy.

Rebooting is no problem. Turning OFF then back on ALWAYS produces a blue
screen error loading Windows ("Unmountable Boot Drive"). To boot, you have
to use the CD to boot then go in and do a CHKDSK /P on the C: drive. Errors
are ALWAYS found. Once fixed, it boots normally and runs normally until you
shut it off again.

If you're thinking about this combination. Beware. The exact same
components worked just fine on a Gigabyte board w/Via 600 chipset.

Well, may have spoken too soon. Got the very latest SATA drivers from the
VIA website. This seems to have fixed the problem. Will report if all goes
sour again.

Spoke too soon. Still trouble with this setup. Went back to the Gigabyte
(Via 600 chipset) board. Working just fine so far. Must be something about
the Asus and the WD hardrive.

Weird, I am using a Raptor with this board and have no troubles at all. I
use the latest drivers off the VIA website.

Very wierd. Days later, the Gigabyte is still flawless. I'm using a Barton
2800+. Wonder if that's part of the problem.
